Self-proclaimed “headache inducing machine” Kirsten Heskamp creates visual work exploring the themes of social issues, western culture, death, emotion, music and religion. These interests mainly come from her upbringing in the “bible belt” area from the Netherlands, her political views and her job as a manager, booker and promoter in the music industry. Mortality is at the core of her work, whilst always looking to innovate her own handwriting and inspiring chaos itself. Her employer Death, the Living writing the contract between the two.
Kirsten likes working with and combining multiple mediums, with her main focus on photography and print making. She sees her own work as anthropological, capturing and documenting the moments that need to be remembered.
